Strength has a greater purpose.
Both the snatch and the clean and jerk bring speed, power, coordination, and balance to your overall training while increasing explosive strength and explosive output. These lifts are an integral part of CrossFit and we provide you with the coaching of these lifts every Thursday at 7:00 PM, generally lasting one hour.
To begin with, the barbell is the most effective tool to get you strong, mobile, and fit, but it’s not quite as simple as just picking one up. Unfortunately many athletes and trainers do not maximize the effectiveness of these basic barbell movements in training and many athletes never reach their full potential due to faulty mechanics.
When you become a member of the Eastern Shore Barbell Club, we will introduce you to the concepts, progressions, with a focus on increasing your Snatch, your Clean, and your Jerk. Athletes will learn basic barbell movements, refine technique, train hard, and be introduced to a multitude of Accessory lifts aimed at gaining proficiency in the fast lifts.
Athletes will learn the movements in detail, incorporate drills for each lift, and get analysis by Coaches on their technique via hands-on or by video to help get a good sense of what’s going right, what’s going wrong, and how their mechanics can be improved to maximize the loads lifted. Sessions will include a warm-up, strength work and sometimes end with a brief conditioning piece.
The Class trains Thursdays from 7pm to 8pm and the number of participants is capped to maximize personal attention and time with the bar. When spots are open, new athletes can join.
There are no minimum requirements or prerequisites to join the Barbell Club. Athletes of all experience levels are welcome.
